Software Freedom Day Jacksonville

Software Freedom Day is an annual, grassroots celebration of free and open-source software. It has run every year since 2004 and is coordinated globally by the Digital Freedom Foundation, with each local team putting on its own event on the same day.

The point is simple: an enormous amount of the software the world runs on is built in the open, given away, and maintained by volunteers. Software Freedom Day is the day communities show that work to their neighbors, and thank the people who keep it going.

Local events look different everywhere. Some are conferences, some are install fests, some are a folding table in a library with a few laptops on it. All of them are free to attend.
